The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is the Government organization responsible for the new Do-Not-Call laws and they are the authority on all information concerning these laws. For a detailed explanation of the these laws, visit their website here. Where do I get the "Do Not Call" lists? The FTC supplies these lists for download on their website. If you use DNCLookUp, it will walk you through the entire registration process and allow you to automatically download and use these lists in minutes! How do I update DNCLookUp with a new phone number list? From the "File" menu, choose to "Auto Download" new FTC 'AC' lists (AC = Area Code). DNCLookUp wil automatically download the lists that you are subscribed to with the FTC. You may also manually download these lists and "import" the zipped files into DNCLookUp manually if you like. We have been led to believe by the FTC that all state lists have been incorporated into the national lists. We have not tested "local" lists in DNCLookUp. Does DNCLookUp download the lists automatically? Yes! After providing your ID and password, DNCLookUp Version 3 will automatically download your DNC lists from the FTC's website. How often do I need to update my "Do Not Call" list to stay compliant? As of January 1st, 2005, the time interval is 31 days.
